Prophet Reel

Client's Brief

In Summer 2022, Prophet wanted to gather the best of its offering into a 1.5 minute Motion Graphics Reel to showcase the best clients they worked for and to give an overview of the provided services. Being an independent international consulting company, their competencies span across multiple fields of knowledge, and they have dealt with various companies’ profiles - the most renowned being BP's Beyond Petroleum strategy and T-Mobile's "Un-carrier" positioning. Condensing this large variety of projects into a short Reel sounded like a real challenge.

Development

I skimmed the footage and went through hundreds of gigabytes of corporate videos, branding, 2D and 3D animations, Graphic proposals - you name it. How to showcase such abundance in a 1.5-minute-long video? After choosing the best cuts for each of the companies they had worked with, I decided to use the music provided as a backbone for the cuts and to alternate rough cuts and the match cut techniques to create a seamless link between two completely different videos. The aim was to show the most I possibly could in a minute and a half. I quickly realised I had to cut down on the provided clients’ video library and focus on what I believed were the very best shots from the high-profile clients, while at the same time trying to cover different sectors such a finance, arts, branding and advertising. Like many others video editing jobs, I went back and forth with Prophet that each time reviewed and sometimes added new footage. Admittedly it was a challenging project, but I loved that we agreed on a little editing freedom, which allowed me to experiment creatively whilst keeping in continuous conversation with the client.
