"The biggest talking point in beauty - sustainability aside - is the issue of inclusivity".
Motion Titles for a short series celebrating the Black Beauty. Featuring an exciting high-profile mix of women from the worlds of fashion, beauty, social media, music and the arts.
Glamour UK has always been at the forefront of inclusivity, trends and empowerment. A huge source of inspiration to me, so when I was called to be part of this project, I felt honoured and proud to contribute to such meaningful work. I was asked to create the titles for the launch of Black Beauty series, to celebrate Black History Month. “For so long black women have been left out of the beauty conversation. While there have been some positive changes, we recognise the industry has a way to go. And so, we wanted to talk about this. Not only to highlight the issues but more importantly, we wanted to use this opportunity to celebrate and champion black beauty in all its glory. We pulled together an incredible and influential group of black women to talk openly and honestly about their view on beauty experiences, inspirations, representation, the politics of black hair, colourism, blackfishing, myths around black women and so much more. The result is a series of three phenomenal videos.” Client brief, 2019
Glamour UK is a recognised brand and as such, like many others, has its own established brand guidelines. Given the overall sentiment of those passionate talks and to highlight the emotions and empathy of the speakers, I decided to create some catchy Motion titles and I also offered different alternatives to the client to choose from. There are many factors that come together when having to make a choice. Some brands are willing to take the risk, while others prefer to remain true to their guidelines. Watch the video below to see what's the Motion titles’ choice made by Glamour UK
The representation of women of colour in the media has long been overlooked, and I'm proud to have done my part in an initiative that finally addressed this gap and amplified voices that have historically been marginalised.
